Consuming Raw food for detoxification is effective for optimal health. While, certain people need to blanche their vegetables to support adrenals or thyroid; others thrive eating raw. There are many dietary theories (over 100) out there. You just need to explore which dietary theory works for you.
I love eating raw food knowing that this is a natural way to detoxify and revitalize my cells. Eating raw food will literally scrape the toxins from your body.
Raw, living foods are naturally detoxifying. The more toxic you are, the more of a reaction you could have to these cleansing foods. You may look and feel worse before you look and feel better! This may sound as painful as giving birth. From my experience, discomfort gives way to a miracle – the miracle of a new healthy life.
Toxins are any substances that are harmful to the body, such as chemicals from your personal care and cleaning products and pollution. Our bodies are inundated with toxins daily which leads to weight gain, allergies, intolerance, rashes, mood changes, poor sleep, low sex drive, bags under the eyes, headaches, lower back pain, PMS, IBS, sensitivities, bloating, digestive upset, or an overall feeling of sickness.
Your daily routine of ingesting alcohol, caffeine, a downer, upper, running around in a fight-flight state of mind (stress) will eventually take you down. For example, cat dander that you may be used to will suddenly trigger a massive allergy attack. You will become sensitive to lifestyle choices that stress your body.
One of my favorite go to foods and choice of beverage are coconuts. Coconuts are nutritious and compliment many raw foods and beverages, but first you need to get them open. The trick is to use only young tender (usually Asian Thai) coconuts. Try to choose the medium-sized coconuts which are easier to open and contain a lot of meat.
My favorite way to open a coconut is using the Coco Jack. The Coco Jack is the bomb! Super easy to open your coconut to access the meat and drink the juice. Coconut water helps with dehydration, contains electrolytes, helps fight off herpes and excellent for digestive support. Additionally, an excellent source of good fat!
Next time you are trying to identify which dietary theory works for your bio-individuality ask yourself a few questions:
Was all this beautiful looking, tasty and health promoting food put on this planet with me, for me to eat?
Was it meant to be heated, processed, transformed, denatured, carcinogenic and have a long shelf life?
Generally, raw foods come from plant foods and are not to be cooked over 115 degrees; otherwise it destroys all of the enzymes in food. Enzymes are essential for proper absorption and proper assimilation of our food. Additionally, for thinking, breathing, digestion, circulation and the prevention of inflammation and other deteriorating influences responsible for aging.
As the weather starts heating up; I encourage you to try going raw a few days throughout your week. See how you feel and if you have more mental clarity. Here is one of my favorite raw recipes – Vegan Ceasar Salad. Please let me know how you like it and feel free to share your favorite raw dish!
