Need a quick allergy remedy to help you breathe better? If you suffer from allergies and are sensitive to pollen they suggest keeping your windows closed and showering twice/day. This makes sense; however it also sounds like you have to hide out in your house…right?!
How about trying a few helpful tips that will empower you to get outside and get moving. Sometimes, our bodies become overly acidic (meaning..too much coffee, alcohol, not enough greens in your diet). When our bodies are overly acidic we have internal inflammation. Inflammation of the head (congestion), nose (watery nose) or headache.
Try adding in sodium such as Himalayan Pink Salt which is an alkaline mineral needed to aid digestion. A lack of sodium causes the body to react to food that becomes difficult to digest.
Drinking fresh lemon, grapefruit, mint or cucumber infused water will help keep you hydrated and eliminate synthetic elements from your body; resulting in less allergies and de-hydration. If you don’t have fresh lemon use a few drops of certified lemon essential oil in your water.
Drinking two ounces of vegetable juice as a snack will also restore electrolyte balance and help with pesky allergy symptoms.
Spring can be a rough time for those suffering with allergies. Now is the time to consider flushing out the toxins and reducing overall bloating, fatigue, infections and revitalizing the body. Imagine, what it would feel like to have mental clarity and daily vitality vs fighting the afternoon crash.
Please enjoy one of my recipes from my Spring Clean Eating program. Your body will feel revitalized in no time.
2 tablespoons fresh grapefruit juice
1 tablespoons lemon juice
4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon honey or stevia
¼ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
5 cups arugula
1 avocado, peeled and diced
Peel the grapefruit. Separate the segments and remove the membranes. This is a juicy process, so do it over a bowl to collect your grapefruit juice. Whisk together grapefruit juice, lemon juice, olive oil, honey, sea salt and pepper. Place grapefruit segments in dressing and let stand for 5 minutes. Place arugula in a large salad bowl, add avocado chunks and top with the grapefruit dressing. Toss thoroughly. (Serves 4)
