Best 7 Body Oils for Dry Flaky Skin.
As Autumn is in full force we are left with dry, flaky skin from Summer fun. Now, is the best time to try using a variety of body oils for proper skin hydration.
As an avid runner my skin gets nailed by the sun. I try to be mindful on exactly how much “radiation” my skin is exposed to.
I know it can be challenging to “pause” and make time to apply sun block on those you love including yourself.
Here Are Four Simple and Sun-Safe Skin Tips:
- Apply non-toxic sunscreen 30 minutes before you head outside – even if it’s cloudy. Up to 80% of the sun’s rays can sneak through clouds.
- Always use broad spectrum sunscreen that’s SPF 30+.
- Schedule a yearly skin exam with a dermatologist to detect early signs of cancers.
- Check yourself every week for new moles, or changes in existing moles and freckles.
Don’t forget big, beautiful sun hats for gardening and picnics too!
Using body oil VS body lotion is a non-toxic way to hydrate your skin. Shea butter is an excellent source too. The chances of experiencing skin irritation is less reduced.
There are way too many fillers and gluten ingredients in body lotions that our liver, kidneys and skin don’t need to absorb to have glowing skin.
Some of the best body oils include coconut oil, jojoba oil, grape seed oil, olive oil, almond oil, pomegranate seed oil, jojoba oil and avocado oil.
Let’s look at some of the best uses for specific body oils.
Coconut oil — This is the best all-purpose oil to use in personal care products, from making homemade body care products such as lotion, deodorant and toothpaste to diluting essential oils for topical use. When used topically, fractionated coconut oil works best due to its liquid state at room temperature.
Jojoba oil — This oil is ideal for both very dry and oily skin to help promote balance. Use it with geranium, lavender and tea tree oils for tough skin conditions.
Magnesium oil – Known as the ultimate relaxer blend magnesium oil with Roman chamomile and lavender oils to reduce stress and improve sleep.
Arnica oil — This oil is best for soothing bruises, pain and skin inflammation.
Shea butter — The best carrier oil for moisturizing very dry and aged skin, it’s also great for making a homemade body butter recipe.
Argan oil — Known to firm and tighten skin, argan oil is great for its healthy aging effects. Mix it with frankincense, myrrh and geranium oils to improve skin tone. It’s also packed with vitamin E.
Evening primrose oil — This carrier oil is great for hormone balance because it contains high levels of GLA (gamma linoleic acid), which produces hormone-regulating prostaglandin. Mix it with clary sage, thyme and ylang ylang oils to support healthy hormones.
Give these recipes a try! You will naturally feel better as you move away from toxic products.
