Sometimes, life throws a wrench at us. We have to halt and care for a loved one or a sick family member. Sometimes, this can make you feel stressed, frustrated and angry. Why? Because we all have “busy lives” and don’t want to pause and “feel” what we need to deal with. We get SO busy and wrapped up in productivity, survival, caring for our children, spouse, pets. Whatever the case may be; there will be a time that we just need to let go.
At the Institute for Integrative Nutrition; we were taught that as a society we are lacking connection. Connection in taking time to nurture ourselves. Taking time to live in the present. Taking time on focusing on healthy relationships. In order to achieve Optimal Wellness we need to strive for balance.
Spring is a time of reflection. For those that are religious – you usually give something up such as sugar or alcohol. I always suggest Seasonal Cleansing (especially in Spring) to remove excess mucus build up from the cold Winter months. In Chinese Medicine Spring is associated with cleansing the Liver and Gallbladder.
This month, I am dedicating “My Spring Cleanse“ to my Mother. Cleansing is not always about eliminating the toxic build up and reducing inflammation. Of course, all the perks such as glowing skin, increased libido and quality sleep are very important. 🙂
However, an Emotional Detox such as letting go of anger, stress and fear is almost MORE important than a quick cleanse. Why? Because, stress is a killer. Toxic thoughts and emotions are a killer. Depression is a killer. Remember, 90% of our Serotonin resides in our GUT. If we are constantly living in the past (holding on to grudges or negative thoughts) this too will eventually catch up to us.
Check in with yourself: Do you have Balance?
Tools such as; Exercise, Journaling, Breathing, Spiritual outlets and support contribute to balance. Sometimes it takes a Village to make this happen!
As a Board Certified Health Coach, I can suggest you eat plant-based food, try to eat organic, take solid supplements and use plant-based Certified Essential Oils vs Synthetic Medication all day long. You can be juicing all day long…however, if your mental health is not also being nourished..none of this matters.
As we age, our bodies and cells age. Our cells oxidize. Our mind needs to rest, feel revitalized, stay calm and focused. My mother – bless her heart…has suffered the last six years with triggers of stress, anxiety and depression. I know this is not news and a lot of people have depression and stress.
However, many times we need to focus on the desire we want to feel. The desire to understand what it takes to make a change for the better.
Here are some action steps in putting yourself first:
1) Start your day by taking in 5 deep breaths. Set an intention for the day.
2) Write down any thoughts that come to mind. Get it out and put it on paper. Unload anything that is causing you worry.
3) Start your morning by drinking warm lemon water with Bragg’s Raw Apple Cider Vinegar to remove toxic build up and get the digestive system going.
4) Hug a loved one or say 3 things that you are grateful for. Usually our minds focus on what is not going well.
5) Eat breakfast and take your supplements.
6) Strive every day to be a better you and don’t be so hard on yourself. 🙂
I share my story with you because sometimes we need to slow down and really take care of ourselves. When someone you care about is ill it can affect everyone. Once you are in that dark place you have to surrender until you get the right help. Going inward is healing.
When you are in a funk; I strongly suggest using these specific mood oils for occasional sleeplessness, anxious feelings and self-doubt.
These are all great medicinal oils.
Remember, we have choices in healing inside and out via a Balance of Self Care, getting the appropriate medical help and integrating a Plant Based lifestyle.
