Post Labor Day back to school tips! Going back to school can feel overwhelming for a lot of families. Especially for those that travel and juggle schedules.
Here are a few going back to school recipes that are quick and nourishing for the entire family. I will also share with you how essential oils will keep you healthy this school year.
Essential oils have became part of our everyday lives. Essential oils, being so potent, diverse, and safe, allow us to achieve the highest level of wellness. This fall is a wonderful time to examine your family’s eating habits and incorporate certified therapeutic grade products. Here are a few family friendly suggestions.
Eat the Rainbow:
Try eating a rainbow of food every day to get the entire spectrum of antioxidants your body needs. It’s fun to have the kids build a rainbow platter out of brightly colored, sliced fruits and veggies. Remember, at least eight servings of fruits and vegetables per day, but more is better. One way to get this is from fresh salad, colorful lunches or veggie or fruit skewers.
Smoothies are also a great way to add in other supplements such as chia seeds, flax powder or fish oil. Our whole family enjoys a chocolate smoothie in the morning that can be enhanced with a protein powder or collagen protein powder. I like to add a few drops of lemon essential oil to our water for extra hydration and flushing out any synthetic elements. Great for those that have seasonal threats too!
Our favorite green smoothie is:
2 cups organic baby kale
2 cups frozen organic berries
1 large organic carrot
Banana or pineapple to taste
2–3 cups of water or unsweetened almond milk
Blend on high until smooth. For additional sweetness, add honey.
Bonus Tip: Add a drop of Wild Orange essential oil to jazz-up the flavor.
Ditch Sugary Drinks with Essential Oil Flavored Water or Fresh Spa Water:
By adding in citrus essential oils to your water this is a quick and inexpensive way to enhance natural absorption, hydration and cleansing. I love to use: Grapefruit, Lemon, Peppermint. Contact me for my suggestions: martha@myhealthdestiny.com as not all essential oils are the same caliber at all.
Spa water is basically lemon, fresh grapefruit juice, cucumber and a dash of Himalayan salt (natural minerals & electrolytes).
Experiment with Essential Oils in the Kitchen
My family loves Bob’s Red Mill gluten-free quick cooking oats flavored with rice or almond milk, nuts, and 1-2 drops of Cinnamon essential oil. Cinnamon is great to help maintain an already healthy blood sugar level.
Read Labels: Label Detective!
Start by learning to read food labels and become familiar with the chemical additives, such as artificial colors and flavors, commonly added to foods. We can’t simply add healthy foods; we must also clean up our diets by removing some of the chemicals that don’t belong in our bodies. There are many great resources you can use to gain better education on essential oils and nutrition. If you can’t pronounce the word you or the ingredient list is long; question your purchase.
Wishing you a happy, healthy, fun-filled school journey. Remember to always try to seek your highest level of wellness. May your journey be filled with colorful in season fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds, organic animal products, water, high quality supplements and essential oils that bring the body back to balance naturally. Let me know how your family likes the smoothie recipe!
